Marlowes Talk Episode 3 - Sunnyside

The Marlowes Shopping Centre has today launched the third episode of their podcast ‘Marlowes Talk’ – this time visiting Hertfordshire horticultural project, the Sunnyside Rural Trust.

Marlowes Talk is a community-focussed project which provides a voice to the charities and organisations who provide essential support and services to the local Hemel community.

The Sunnyside Rural Trust was set up in 1990 as a charitable social enterprise, designed to support children and adults with learning disabilities and physical challenges. Through work experience and training, the hundreds who have been part of the Sunnyside story through the years have developed invaluable personal and social skills.

For episode three, journalist Sophie Sulehria meets with Dawn Watson at one of Sunnyside’s three projects in the county, the Hemel Food Garden to find out about their service users, and how the community really benefitted from the work of the organisation during lockdown.

Sophie also speaks to a number of the service users at the Hemel Food Garden, and hears from Olivia who runs the café. Olivia explains how the project has given her confidence and helped her mental wellbeing, not least by having a sense of purpose and developing customer service skills through her work in the café.
