2017 Young Enterprise Trade Fair

On Sunday February 26th 100 more are set to liven up the action at The Marlowes Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Their mission, to entice customers with their unique products, compete for trade and demonstrate their business skills in the 2017 Young Enterprise Trade Fair.

Representing schools from across Watford, Rickmansworth and Dacorum the students have been developing and selling a variety of products since September 2016, learning first hand about business by actually setting up and running a real company.

With advice from local business volunteers, the students elect a board of directors from among their peers, raise share capital and develop and market a product or service of their own choice. At the end of March they will have the opportunity to compete in the Young Enterprise Company Programme Finals, 2017 and the winners will go on to represent South West Hertfordshire within this year’s Regional finals (with the possibility of progressing to the UK National and even European finals later this summer).

Young Enterprise’s Company Programme is supported in Watford, Rickmansworth & Dacorum by the areas local councilors and business community. Marilla Elliott, Young Enterprise Manager South West Hertfordshire said “It will be a marvelous showcase for the achievements of these young budding entrepreneurs in developing their skills, knowledge and confidence, in just one year. We are extremely grateful to our local shopping centers, businesses and the community for their encouragement the enthusiasm they give the students”.

With 25 student teams setting up stalls each day there will be an array of unique products on sale, for example ‘the bagel bag holder’, ‘the HiDi HiDe folder safe’, recycled tire products, bio-degradable straws, ‘the eco compressor bin, stress balls.
